Michael Caines MBE is patron for charity Families For Children, a specialist adoption agency providing advice and support for those who are considering adoption. Offering children a stable and loving home is a priority for the Devon-based trust.
Michael, who was himself adopted into a loving family, recognises the importance of placing vulnerable children – with often complex needs – into stable homes.
The trust also provides advice and support for those considering adoption, and continues to support families for as long as they feel they need it.
Families for Children has placed more than 500 children in the last 20 years with new adoptive families in the South West, and at any one time can be supporting over 40 families. They offer a dedicated team of social workers to help on every step of the way through the adoption journey.
The trust are also specialists in placing ‘priority children’ – those with additional needs, disabilities, older children and sibling groups.
Michael says: “Families for Children is a brilliant charity. I do believe in adoption and Families for Children need support for funding – not just for adoptions but also for after-care. The backgrounds of children being adopted now are different. These children have real issues and need support and care to make sure they don’t fall through the net. FFC supports the wellbeing of the parent and the child.”
